Snowy Day, Mittens and a Journey with a Crayon

The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats has been a huge success with audiences for over 50 years. Jan Brett’s The Mitten has brought smiles to faces all over the world with her imaginative illustrations of this Ukrainian Folktale. What more can anyone say about the timeless classic of Harold and the Purple Crayon? All of these wonderful pieces of children’s literature are familiar to many who work with children. They are familiar to those who have had the luxury of children’s stories and time to be read to by a parent, grandparent, teacher or just someone special in their lives. However, there are many more people in this world for whom stories have been absent. The REAL Program exists to improve literacy. It is the challenge of this nation at this time in history and we hope you can join us in this challenge: Come to the Legacy Institute; volunteer with us; collect books for us to distribute to children who are thirsty to learn; donate to our cause. You can make a difference for REAL.
